Dialysis Vascular Access Procedures

Dialysis Access Maintenance and Intervention

Carolina ASC specializes in the maintenance and care of existing dialysis vascular access, including AV fistulas, AV grafts, and central venous catheters. Over time, these access sites may develop complications such as blockages, narrowing (stenosis), or clotting, which can impact dialysis treatment.

Our team performs minimally invasive procedures to restore and maintain proper function, including:

  • Angiogram and Angioplasty: Imaging and balloon expansion to open narrowed access sites and restore blood flow.
  • Thrombectomy: Removal of blood clots that may form in dialysis grafts or fistulas, preventing blockages.
  • Stent Placement: Insertion of a small mesh tube to keep vessels open and improve blood flow in cases of significant narrowing.
  • Catheter Exchange and Removal: Safe and efficient exchange or removal of dialysis catheters to prevent infection and ensure proper dialysis function.
  • Coil Embolization Procedures: A minimally invasive technique used to treat vascular malformations and excessive blood flow within dialysis access. Small coils are inserted into the blood vessels to block or redirect blood flow, improving dialysis efficiency and reducing complications.

Our goal is to ensure that patients receive uninterrupted, high-quality dialysis treatment by addressing access-related complications promptly and effectively. Carolina ASC is committed to providing expert care in maintaining dialysis vascular access, enhancing patient well-being, and improving overall treatment success.
